Ganesha is my favourite of all the funky Hindi gods. I just love how much he reminds me of the possibilities of my body breath and what happens when I just forgive myself for being frustrated. Ganesha removes obstacles that impede our progress, yet he can also place obstacles in the path of wanton desire, wanting that which does not serve us.
Ganesha reminds me to live and move in peace, and appreciate where I am and the perfection of all that I am. He also is my imaginary guide, when attempting a precarious asana I just envision Ganesha there ready to wrap his trunk around me and sustain my balance, or when dealing with tedious persons and daunting situations I see Ganesha cut through the lies and misconceptions with his axe.
Lotus enlightenment safety to remain closed in the dark when I need to.
Perfection in my imperfections.
The measure of strength and gentleness in perfect balance.
And the joyous dancer that embodies all life in humour and love.
This is why I have Ganesha tattooed on my left arm ,the arm that balances my imbalance.
